This app really is frustrating and annoying. The "gestures" hardly work and hardly gets recognize. The Apps "scroll up/down" doesnt work, it gets stuck and you cant scroll to see your document. This App needs a lot of work. I want my $3.99 back.

Take a little time to let the program know your handwriting style and the program will work well. I use a stylus which has made the writing a bit easier and I plan to buy the IPad version. The following is a copy of something I did on the program before writing this review: Now is the Winter of our discontent Made glorious Summer bt The sun of York.
It crahes everytime i try opening a new document. I mean cmon! Jeez. An update changing the icon isnt nearly worth as much as one that actually makes this application work!
Not worth it! Why cant anyone design a good WORD program???!!!!!
I am surprise to find that the app received such a low rating when I would rate it with a 4*. On closer examination, I notice most of the low rating is from the iphone version of the app. This is understandable because iphone screen is just too small to use the app and the capacitive stylus effectively. On the ipad, the app perform splendidly and I use it to replace all my other handwriting note taking apps [noteshelf, noteplus, penultimate] because it transcribes my ugly handwriting note to printed text accurately . I really wonder why apple doesnt allow this app to become an alternate method of input for all its app. It input accuracy is better than using the virtual keyboard and I find that I can input the text faster than typing using the handwriting panel. It automatically sync to dropbox so I can edit the doc on my PC with formatting [bold, underline, photo etc.] The features I wish it would include in next update would be a voice recorder, simple editing such as list, font color and formatting. ps. WritePad is better then Phatpad in recognizing handwriting even though the latter has a voice recording function.
This app is a bit quirky, as it uses non-standard interfaces for autocorrection and selecting text. However, now that Im used to these quirks, I find it superior for writing documents of significant length. I also like the web interface for transferring documents without entrusting my personal files to a cloud service. The handwriting recognition works pretty well, but I use the keyboard mode because its faster for me. My only complaint is that since the recent update, I can no longer rename my files (the blue arrow does not appear like the Users Guide says it should, on the iPhone version at least). This is especially annoying since the new version doesnt give you a chance to override the default name before creating the file in the first place. Please fix this!
I am going to use this app to write i+sonn renew so you can judge for yourself how great the handwriting recognition is. There is a bit of a learning curve with This app. I recommend reading the help files1 before you begin. Some of the gestures are tinnicky an a hard to remember. Recognition is hit-ormiss.
Downloaded for iPhone 4. Intuitive but the instructions are useful. Perfect for quick note taking. Excellent export to PDF email txt tweet Facebook etc. Need more time with it but first pass is good.
The toolbar does not appear on the iPhone version - and since you NEED the toolbar in order to be able to control the app, the absence of the toolbar means you have basically NO control of ANY functions.
Rmort46, to show the toolbar, touch and hold the bottom of your screen. The gear symbol on the right takes you to settings where you can turn off the toolbar autohide. ~ Ive had Writepad on my iPhone from a very early version, and it keeps getting better. Writing on a small screen hasnt been an issue, its similar to using my old Compaq PDA. Im glad to see the latest update include letter and symbol shapes, and the ability to turn certain ones off. However, its quite useless without accompanying description or animation. Please also update the help section to include the added info.
Honestly, this is a fantastic software, Im a huge fan and wish I could have handwriting input with in place of the keyboard for all Ipod input. I admit, there was a learning curve associated with writepad and my handwriting has improved since I started using it. Also Ive made some change in the "options menu" under "text editing settings", that you might find helpful. What works best for me is to set "only known words" to ON, of course this mean I need to spell correctly. You might try setting "separate letters" to ON And print all your words, and there is a "letter shapes" menu that lets you fine tune the recognition engine. And by the way Stan is you are monitoring these reviews, It would nice to have different stationary, like collapsable outline and graph paper. I would also like to be able to toggle separate letters on and off from within a document instead of the options menu. Writepad is great for writing quick notes during my archaeologic expeditions. Oops sorry got lost in my Indiana Jones fantasy. This review was written entirely using writrepad. Indiana
I bought this app thinking it would speed up writing since it does handwriting recognition. That is mostly what it is for, although you can use it as a plain text editor and then sync with evernote/dropbox/etc. which is nicely done. The email facility though has a bug: I wrote something and emailed it, it claimed it sent it, but it was never heard of again... The handwriting recognition is pretty decent and seems to slowly learn but it is still a very slow way of writing for me. Im some 100x faster on the iPad typewriter and probably always will be. I guess I didnt think carefully about my mode of writing before buying this one. It does what it is designed to do pretty well, but it is not clear why youd want to do what it does.
I bought this for my iPhone and now I have to buy it for even more money for my iPad?!?! Horrible money hungry developers!!!
Great app! Just a few errors.... It would be nice if you could add pictures to your documents and the ability to have more control over the title and description... Lastly I was really hoping you could add "separate pages" so you know how long your document is without the hassle having to email it and check it and edit it then resend it etc... Thanks for taking my feedback into consideration and I hope that these changes arent too difficult Thanks
Takes time but works well. Sure it will be improved and free!
I love the options on this app. Handwriting or typing. Love the output options even more: PDF, print, google docs, email, SMS, etc. Ive built many useable documents from this one. Excellent job guys.
Its quicker to just type than to use this. The recognition is slow and most of the time it does not recognize my hand writing unless I enter each character very slowly. It reminds me of the old Palm Pilot graffitti which also never really worked well.
This app is amazing! If you set the options for handriting to your own, typing is very quick and eazy. Reconizer is great, and I wish I could use the handwritting reconizer right now to write this review! I very much reccomend this app if you are on the go and need to write long documents or type short notes. Great app, thanks!
This app recognizes every single word I write! GREAT!!! Recommend this to everybody who is reading this review!
App is amazing. Anyone worrying about its accuracy, dont. It is right on. You will love it.
