WritePad is a text editor for iPhone that utilizes advanced handwriting recognition input for the English language as well as iPhone keyboard for text entry, and includes spell checker, context analyzer, and standard editing operations such as copy, cut, paste, etc. WritePad’s primary handwriting recognition-based input method integrated with the text editor and developed specifically for iPhone and iPod Touch. It recognizes cursive, PRINT, and mixed handwriting styles.

To enter the text you can simply write with your finger or a stylus (such as AluPen by just|mobile) on the iPhone screen in either landscape or portrait mode employing your own handwriting style. It also allows easily switching between the handwriting recognition and the standard iPhone keyboard.

The Shorthand feature offers a quick and simple way to insert often-repeated text and performs standard editing commands by writing the Shorthand name and drawing a circle around it. You can add new or modify Shorthands using the Shorthand Editor.

With WritePad you can create text documents and store them on your iPhone. The built-in HTTP server allows you to exchange files between iPhone devices connected to the same WiFi network, or to upload files onto the desktop PC using the Internet browser. You can also send emails directly from WritePad and use copy/paste to transfer text between WritePad and other applications. In addition, you can use the built-in interface to the Bing Translator to convert your documents to other languages.

Pros and cons of WritePad app for iPhone and iPad

WritePad app good for

Doesnt work anymore after the 1.2 update. Text is written, can be selected, but doesnt appear. Fix please!
This application shows what the future looks like. Dont be influenced by the few negative reviews. It only requires a bit of patience and then your handwriting will be recognised. Youll be on your way soon.
The hand writing feature is mostly awful and not very intuative. But typing iPhone the keyboard seems really Nice the app is really lite and well designed, the keyboard is not buggy and heavy to work with and doesnt crash like other writing Apps and can even save your text to dropbox which Made it great for me! I use it a lot for quick writing! I just think that the writing with the finger feature is not good at all
Great Software, good recognition, a real alternative for the keyboard. Hope, it will come in other languages soon.
I read a lot of comment with 1 or 2 stars. The comment comme from dumb Dud that are not able to read more then one word in a row. The soft work verry well and have a lot of good features. Just take 2 min to read the instruction and you will see how amasing it is. STOP destroying the credibility of a good app and dont post review if you didnt at list read the instruction. I do think this app is the most advance tech in iPhone. I use it to take not rapidly, because I hate the virtual keyboard. The soft might not be complete, but at least the recognition work just fine and I think its promising. Really hope you are going to make it work with a app that can sync or just the ability to save, find and reedit stuff.
This worked very well. Easier to learn that the Palm OS writing recognition on my PDA. I look forward to using it in an expanded piece of software.

Some bad moments

Pas mal , le français marche très bien. Par contre trop lent beaucoup trop lent
The application comes with a bible of instructions, all of which are difficult to understand and hard to remove from the screen.
good app, and i totally agree with bobbyjoe37 that would be so cool, and im sure everyone would love it :) i would definately download that.. hopefully someone makes that idea
Really neat software that would likely speed up typing process on the ipod/iphone, but the user interface could be a lot better
Ive read the instructions and it seemed easy enough, however even with the directons to erase all that text.... It wouldnt erase when I did it. I tried the diagonal select all swipe..... Nothing and there was no edit for me to highlight. Too bad I really wanted to try it, it seems as tho the ones who are getting it to work really like it!!
Horrible. The long page of instructions cant be deleted. Waste of time. Good effort though.
